Accessibility Statement

Last updated March 2026

NetterReference.com is committed to continuous improvement in accessibility and aligns with broader Elsevier goals and evolving standards. This includes meeting or exceeding the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA and requirements of the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Key areas of focus include keyboard navigation, responsive design, and improved contrast on text and buttons. Alt-text has been implemented; however, we continue to explore best practices for heavily labeled anatomical images. Recent keyboard tabbing improvements help provide a logical reading order; however navigation of popup menus for individual labels continues to be a challenge. The launch of the 9th edition Netter Atlas of Human Anatomy will be a phased approach with functionality similar to the current 8th edition available in July 2026 plus the addition of captions and audio descriptions for videos. The nine 3D models included on the site are not fully accessible and considered supplemental to the main learning materials. For these models, the equivalent content is listed in a disclaimer. We continue to investigate alternative accessible options for 3D anatomical renderings. In Fall, 2026, additional accessibility improvements, like an optional “mini-map” to help endusers orient a highly zoomed image is planned. A Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) is available for the 8th edition: Netter Atlas 8e VPAT - March 2024.  An updated VPAT is planned for the 9th edition. No additional accessibility improvements are planned for the 8th edition; efforts will focus on the most recent 9th edition.

Netter products are very visual, and we look forward to implementing alternative methods to convey this information as technology allows.
